The Outdoor Images of Terry Lang

"The knee deep, sodden grass rustled against our waders as we walked. No one spoke, I think
everyone was just absorbing the moment, and collecting their own private memories. As the rain clouds pushed back, the sky turned from
polished steel to familiar blue, which bore the promise of a warm spring day. Besides the sound of our passing, the only sounds that could be heard were those of a morning meadow lark and the grazing of a few content cows. As we approached the stream, we could hear its cordial laughter filled conversation as it surged, swelled, and meandered through the meadow.

"Trout were actively rising in the current seams as we prepared our lines for casting. The line whispered overhead and delicately unfolded. The fly drifted down stream until it disappeared into a slight swirl. The rod arced and shuddered as the line began to race unpredictably through the pool. The cutthroat was a perfect blend of glossy greens, transparent yellows, rusty reds, and bronzes. As I released the fish, it darted away and disappeared as though it dissolved.

"My interest in the outdoors is the driving force behind my artwork. To me, the most impressive building pales in comparison to nature's simplest leaf. I strive to bring the personal experience of the outdoors back home by way of the canvas. I try to capture those images that inspire us when we are outside. Surrounded by the beauty of the northern Colorado landscape, I do not have to look far for inspiration."
